Closing the Opportunity Gap
Rally to Close Educational Opportunity Gap
On Thursday June 9, 2011 Over 600 persons gathered at the Oakdale Covenant Church on the corner of 9440 South Vincennes to be inspired, motivated, and informed by Dr. John Jackson, President of the Schott Foundation for Public Education. The achievement gap between white students and black and latino students is directly related to the opportunity gap - access to quality school facilities and resources needed for academic success. One of the models on track to become a national model of school and community support is C.A.A.A.D. - Changing Attitudes Agendas, Actions Directions had its genesis through Mt. Carmel's own Sister Careda Taylor. Enjoy the pics!
